Obituary For Ming K. Tran

Ming K. Tran, 98, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2024.

Ming was born in Xiamen, Fujian, China in 1926. In search of a better life, he relocated multiple times to escape the communist regime – to North Vietnam where he met and married his wife. They then moved to South Vietnam where he established a home to raise their family. In 1979, the family split up and took a treacherous journey by boat through international water to Malaysia. Eventually, everyone in the family reunited in Winston-Salem, NC.

Ming was a talented, smart, and hard-working individual. His hobbies were gardening and creating handcrafted inventions. He liked listening to Chinese opera and watching old movies. He kept up with current events through the Chinese newspaper. He leaves behind fond memories and a profound love and respect from his family for everything he did for them.

Ming was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lan Quach. His memory will be cherished by his children, Jimmy Chen (Vivian), Khanh Luong (Linh), Thanh Tran (Sarah), Lily Banh (Tuyen), Donna Nguyen (Thanh), and Cam Cao (Dang); daughter-in-law, Bau Duong; grandchildren, Tuyen Tran (Katie), Jessica Luong, Sharon Barber (Nathan), Danny Banh, Kristina Banh, Katie Stoltz (Quinn), Grace Chen, Austin Nguyen, Nathan Cao, Anna Chen, and Victoria Nguyen; four great-grandchildren, Maia, Hunter, Caroline, and Madelyn; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his son, Phat Tran and grandson, Nguyen Tran.
