I am thinking of all of you as you begin your journey without Maureen in your lives. She was an interesting and complex person and I know you all had struggles along the way. ALS is very difficult to deal with even without any complicating factors, and you all did your very best to cope and give care to Maureen while trying to keep some semblance of a life yourselves. Know that you did the best you could and you sought out the help needed to make her life the best it could be. She is free from the struggle and for that I am grateful. Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of your journey. We are still here for you.

Der Merz family, I am sorry for your loss. As the days and weeks go by, may you draw closer to God in prayer and allow Him to sustain you.- Psalm 55:22.
