Marcia Ellis, 82, of Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2011, surrounded by loved ones. Born November 8, 1928 in Robinson, Illinois, she was the daughter of John and Matrice Lindsay. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her younger brother David.

She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Gene. In addition, Marcia is survived by her many devoted family members: son, Kim and his wife Anna, grandson Kim and granddaughter Kasey; son Van and girlfriend Sally Williams,grandson Adam and his wife Michelle and granddaughter, Jessica; son, Steve and his wife Sharon and granddaughter, Tayler; son Chris and grandson John; daughter Gail Wherry and her husband Mark and grandsons David and Chad.

Marcia was a longtime member of the Benson Memorial United Methodist Church and the family wishes to extend a special thanks to her Sunday School class and other church members for their support during her Illness.

A funeral service to celebrate her wonderful and meaningful life will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 10:45 AM at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. The Reverend Ed Priestaf will be officiating. The family will receive friends immediately preceding the service between 10 AM and 10:45 AM.

A graveside burial service for family and friends will follow in Charlotte, NC at 4 PM at Forest Lawn East, 3709 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC 28104.
