Obituary For Mary Elizabeth Satterfield
Mary Elizabeth Satterfield, 90, formerly of Lexington, NC and Ft. Myers Beach, FL, died peacefully on November 13, 2017 following a brief illness.
She was born on August 3, 1927 in Charlotte, NC where she loved playing the piano and grew up in the Steel Creek Presbyterian Church. After graduating from Berryhill High School, she attended Meredith College and Queens College.
She was active in many civic organizations.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother and longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Lexington, NC. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Polk Satterfield and her parents Lloyd Henderson McCoy and Alvina Benson McCoy. Survivors include her two children Karen Elizabeth Pledger (Lloyd) of Columbia, NC and Margaret Lee Roberts of Raleigh, NC.
The family appreciates the kind loving care at UNC Rex Healthcare during her final days.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family.
Memorials may be made to the American Children’s Home in Lexington, NC or the St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Columbia, NC.
