Mary was a good friend to me; I knew her my entire life. Her mother used to keep me when I was a baby. She was an Elder at St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church; she was always supportive of me as organist and Sunday School teacher. Her passing has brought sadness to many people. However, the memories of Mary are of a life of service to others. May Peace welcome her in God's loving arms. She is now free of life's miseries and suffering. I will always hold Love and Respect for Mary Fuqua. May her Sons, her family find that inner Peace that is beyond all human understanding as they face the coming days. Know that Mary was loved by many. I send Love to everyone of Mary's Family and Friends. We have our Treasured Memories of a beautiful and loving Soul. Rest in Peace, my Friend. Mary was a wonderful friend to my mother, Catherine Davis, and a pillar of St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church (SBPC) along with her husband Ivan. My mother came to know Mary and her family through SBPC. I don't remember much about the early church days except the delicious fellowship dinners after church, and fun youth group activities. Mary was an integral part of organizing and leading the women of the church in their study, fellowship and service activities. This leadership and sense of mission and community lasted up until the church, sadly, closed a couple of years ago. My mother accompanied Mary on many of her Meals-on-Wheels deliveries. Mary was an avid reader and passed many books along to mom for her reading enjoyment. I also remember that Mary made delicious bread & butter pickles. She often gave her pickles as Christmas gifts to church members. Mary also helped organize a surprise birthday dinner for my mother's 90th birthday. May was so kind and thoughtful. We are grieved to learn of Mary's death. There is a hole in our hearts where Mary used to be. We will miss her. Another friend is lost to us, but another angel has entered heaven. Mary was the Lord's good and faithful servant on earth. Now she is at peace. To Scott, Tommy and the rest of her family: we wish you peace and comfort in these difficult days. It's hard to lose any close family member, but it's particularly hard to lose the mother and aunt who so lovingly cared for you. We hope you know how much Mary was loved by her church friends, and how much she loved you. Hold on to your beautiful memories of Mary.
