Obituary For Mary E Bisantz

Mary E. Bisantz was born on September 5, 1944 in Buffalo, New York. She graduated from Holy Angels Academy in 1962 and was subsequently awarded the Grey Nuns Distinguished Alumnae Award. A 1966 graduate of D�Youville College, Mary received the Ann Lum Distinguished Alumna Award in 2006. In 1969, Mary was awarded the Juris Doctor Degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. During her senior year she had the distinction of being the first female editor of SUNY Buffalo Law Review. She was admitted to the practice of law in New York in 1970 and practiced with Brown-Kelly from 1970 to 1972. She was an Assistant District Attorney and worked in The Commission on Judicial Conduct in Albany, New York in 1975. Mary then worked as an Assistant Attorney General of New York in Albany until she was appointed as the United States Administrative Law Judge in Raleigh, NC in 1994. In 1995, she was promoted to the position of Hearing Office Chief Judge. In 1999 she was promoted to the position of Acting Regional Chief Judge in Seattle, Washington. Later that year, Mary was appointed to the position of Deputy Chief Judge in Falls Church, Virginia, serving until 2003, the year she returned to Raleigh, North Carolina. Mary retired at the end of 2006, spending much of her time in Rodanthe, NC, where she owned Homeport Gifts on Hatteras Island. Mary is predeceased by her parents, two brothers and a sister. She is survived by her loving sister Patricia Caldiero and many devoted nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to D�Youville College or the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart are welcome. A memorial service will be held in Buffalo, NY at a later date.
