Mary Carolyn Thoburn, 88, passed away at home in Raleigh, NC on November 4, 2023. She was born in Utica, NY on March 16, 1935. Mary graduated from Westport High School (NY) in 1953, and went on to earn a degree in Art at Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT. After graduation, Mary worked as a designer at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY and was awarded two patents for her designs. She married her husband Frank in 1959. Mary and Frank lived in several states as well as Japan while raising their four children.

She was an excellent cook and enjoyed painting, crafts and decorating. She was a kind hearted woman and loved by all.

Mary is survived by her husband, Frank, of 64 years, her children: Lynn Musolf, Lisa (Lawrence) Jassin, Frank (April) Thoburn III, and Christopher Thoburn, five grandchildren: Mallory (Kevin), Melinda, Benjamin (Joyce), Elizabeth and Audrey, as well as nieces and nephew: Sharon (Chris), Amie, and George (Patti). She is preceded in death by her sister, Jean, nephew, James, and son in law, Keith.

A visitation for the “Celebration of Life” is on Saturday, November, 25, at 11am at the Asbury Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC. The service is following at 12 noon.
