A shining light while here on Earth, now sparkles in her heavenly home. On April 8th, 2021, Martina Natoli Lagman, 30, of Chesapeake, VA, ended her long and difficult struggle with cystic fibrosis at Duke University, surrounded by her beloved family.

Martina will be well remembered as a loving wife, daughter, aunt, and friend to all. She loved being the social butterfly, shopping, crafting, spending time at the beach, and being around her fur babies Liam and Kai.

Martina worked as a dental assistant with Cox Pediatric Dentistry as well as a patient service representative at Patient First.

Although facing numerous health challenges from birth, Martina was always upbeat, hopeful, and filled with a desire to make the most out of a life she knew would be far more short-lived than most of us are privileged to hope for or experience. Determined to meet life head on, she made a deep and lasting impression on those she met, always ready to share a smile, kind word, or an attentive ear.

Not only did she want to experience every moment of her own life fully, Martina also wanted bring that awareness to others of how precious the time we are given should be appreciated and treasured, giving time freely volunteering in the community whenever possible.

Martina is survived by husband Jay Lagman, her Prince Charming. Her parents, Joe and Tina Natoli were not only her life role models, but the bedrock of her love, support and confidence. Best pal and forever friend was brother, Dustin Natoli, along with his wife Ashley. Loving grandparents Danny Shannon, Danzel Shannon, and Lois Natoli, showered her with love in that special way only grandparents can do. Her dedicated uncle, Joe Shannon, caring cousin, Allison Shannon, and her very special niece Reese Nicole Natoli were all part of the awesome extended family that ensured there was never a dull moment in creating a lifetime of fond and funny memories that Martini drew great strength and a big smile from even in the toughest of ordeals. Finally, and certainly without any doubt, she found great joy in her incredibly large and equally supportive group of fantastic friends.

Martina’s passion for life was nearly unquenchable, if only her physical body could have been as strong as her indomitable spirit, which will continue to serve as an inspiration to all who knew her. The family wishes to recognize the kindness and professionalism of the doctors, nurse, and staff of Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC for the exceptional care provided through numerous hospitalizations, including two separate, double lung transplant procedures.

More importantly, the sincerest appreciation is reserved for all those that offered love, support, kindness, and especially prayers throughout Martina’s life and especially these past few months, and which continue to carry us all through this difficult time. A Celebration of Life Service will be held April 15th at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Norfolk, 312 Kempsville Road, Norfolk VA 23502.
