Obituary For Martha Rebecca "Becky" Padgette

Martha Rebecca “Becky” Padgette of Raleigh, passed away peacefully the morning of April 10, 2025, at Transitions Lifecare hospice. She was born in Goldsboro, NC on March 26, 1948, to Roy Alford and Ruby Rutledge. She fought a courageous battle with multiple illnesses for many years. Most of her last year, she spent living in the RV she dearly loved.

Becky spent much of her career in data processing at several insurance companies as well as at several insurance agencies both in Raleigh and after moving to Marietta, GA. She was also a substitute teacher at many schools in Marietta, GA. She spent several years working with her husband Bob and helping him during the early stages of his first business startup.

What she really loved in life was her dogs and RVing. All of her dogs loved traveling in the RV and meeting new friends, both human and canine, at campgrounds around the country. While she loved all her dogs over the years her favorite was probably Sebastian, a PBGV hound dog. He was cute, smart, fun, and always lovable.

In 2016 she and her husband Bob turned into serious RVers after he retired. They visited about 30 states with some extended 3-5 month trips as part of the touring. She loved driving the “big black bus” and is pictured in front of it with her husband, her stepson and his wife, when she was traveling through Maryland on the way to Maine one summer. A lot of fun times and great memories were created on those trips.

She is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” L. Padgette of Raleigh who she was married to for 47 years as of April 1, 2025; her son Christopher M. Eason of Sandy Springs, GA; her stepson Robert L. Padgette, Jr. and his wife Heather and two grandchildren Cameron and Nathan all now in California; her stepdaughter Elizabeth “Beth” P. Fulks and her husband Clay of Raleigh; and her two siblings Allen and David, and many cousins.

No immediate memorial service or celebration of life is planned. There may be one in the future after her husband is further along recovering from his recent heart surgery.

Donations may be made in Becky’s name to animal rescue centers to further her love for dogs.
