Obituary For Mark David Brodie

Santa Cruz, California – Mark David Brodie, 68, of Santa Cruz, California, passed away on August 9, 2021, after a brief illness. Mark is the second eldest son of Frances A. Brodie and the late William F. Brodie, of Raleigh, North Carolina.

He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS in Psychology and a minor in computer science. He held an Associate Degree in Computer Science from Bay Valley Tech working as a software engineer for 22 years.

He was an avid and accomplished chess player attaining the status of National Master. He loved art and was an amateur painter.

He leaves behind his son, David Brodie, of Santa Cruz, California. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael, Steve, Paul (Debbie), Chris (Sharon), and John (Diane) and his sisters, Sharon, Karen, Michelle, and Marie Brodie (Eric Waldbauer). He also leaves behind his beloved mother, Frances and a large extended family.

A Funeral Mass will be held on August 28, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. The family will receive guests immediately following mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina

    Rest in peace Mark. You really were a inspiration for the relationship with you and your son David. Never have I seen a son who adored his father more than David did you.     Hey dad,. It's me Your son David. I just want to let you know things are going well for me. I'm no longer homeless, I got housing in a nearby city. Thank you for letting me see you one last time after you passed. That was the most amazing experience. I am trying my best to be more like you and less like the old me. I know we weren't on the best of terms when you passed but thank you for your love and forgiveness. I'm sorry I wasn't there at your funeral it was logistically impossible, but one of these days I'm going to a wake in your honor exactly how you wanted it. I will always adhere to the lessons you taught me and strive to continue doing good. I'll guess that's it for now. I'll see you on the other side, but until then just know not a day goes by that I don't miss your smile your voice and kindness. Everyone was saddened about your death. You touched many lives and were a very well loved and respected man. If you can read this, try to meet me again if possible through the means you already know. I love you dad. -your son, David.
