Obituary For Marjorie Cato Burton

Mrs. Marjorie Cato Burton passed away Monday at the Sunrise Memory Care facility located behind Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh.

She was born in Pageland, SC, to the late Thomas Edgar and Sara Jane Carson Cato. Predeceasing her in death are two brothers: E. Lewis Cato and J. Carson Cato; and one sister, Elizabeth C. Johnson, all of Rock Hill, SC.

Mrs. Burton was a graduate of Winthrop University and taught in North and South Carolina. She was Secretary Treasurer and Store Manager of Mobley's Raleigh Art Center from 1972 to 1988. Mrs. Burton was a member and Sunday School Teacher at St. Giles Presbyterian Church until 1972, and then a member of Highland United Methodist Church since 1975. She is survived by her sons: Sloan Marvin Burton, Jr. of Raleigh, NC; Dr. Philip D. Burton and wife, Janet Griesedieck, and their son, Neville C. Burton, of Zebulon, NC; Dr. David A. Burton, and wife, Sharon Burton, and daughter, Haley Marie Burton, of Raleigh, NC; and sister, Helen C. Jones, of Tennessee.

Graveside service will be held concurrently with her husband, Sloan, on Glenwood Avenue on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11:30am, with family receiving friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
