Obituary For Marianne Hofsheier

Marianne Hofsheier, age 90, of Raleigh, NC died on December 21, 2017. She was born to the late William Buckley and Lucille Belky Buckley and soon thereafter adopted by the late Richard Leferink and Angie Belky Leferink in Casper, Wyoming.

Marianne attended the University of Wyoming as a Journalism Major and retired as a human resources administrator from the Department of Energy. Marianne enjoyed many hobbies that included cross- stitch, bowling, scrapbooking and studying genealogy. She loved all animals, but was most fond of her cats, as they were very dear to her heart. Most importantly, she loved her family and will be dearly missed.

Marianne is survived by daughter, Carol Lynn Hofsheier Bott, her children, Bobby, Jolene, Chad and Cliff; one son, Rick Hofsheier and his wife, Toni, along with their children, Ryan and Kimberly; and daughter, Pam Hofsheier Rothgeb, her children, Brian, Matt and Jenna, and her husband, JD. Marianne is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, of 54 years, and her son-in-law Clayton Bott.

I knew Marianne for approx. 8 years while working at the front counter at Buffaloe Lanes. She always use to come into the lanes happy, but feisty! We use to pick at each other and have such a great time before she would start league! Her fun loving personality combined with her selflessness really showed! We grew super close over the years and when she could no longer bowl, she would still come in 2-3 times a week and do the secretary duties for league. She would bring me a pack of fruit snacks every day, and always could cheer me up when work or life was stressful for me. She really became like a grandmother to me, and I know she is dancing up in heaven now! My wife Tiffany only got to meet her once, and Marianne made her feel like one of her granddaughers as if she had known her for years! She will be greatly missed and NEVER forgotten!!

I was very blest to have known Marianne for 9 years and my heart breaks for her family whom she talked about them and their loving care of her all the time! I met her when my husband Richard passed on Jan 6,09 while walking with my 15month old grand baby Gianna around her cul de sac. We talked and I could tell she was a widow too, it's all in the eyes, as I grabbed her hand and said would you like to be my friend like I was in kindergarten! From that moment on we became friends even though there was 25 years difference we still had lots in common! We were part of a group no one wants to belong to, widowers group ,married to veterans, we loved animals, she rode a Harley as we did years ago and we made each other laugh and we so did love CARROT CAKE from Nantuckets which I would bring to her often! I knew we could both rely on our new friendship thru these years. I will deeply miss her and our talks. I cared about her so that I even named my 41/2 ft seahorse Nellie after Nellie her feral cat when I moved to the beach. I brought Nellie to see her and make her smile on one of my monthly trips back to Raleigh. A funny story is months after I met her in wake forest she had a pile of river stone in her driveway she asked me do you know anyone who would take it for free! I thought about it & said I could use it to make a memory garden under the flag pole for my Vietnam Hero because he doesn't have a grave site as he has been cremated. She said it's yours! So her and I put the stone into buckets and opened up my tail gate and took it to my house a block away and she was in her 80's then. She was & is amazing, caring and loveable and so much more! I will miss our dinners,our carrot cake,,our talks, our love for animals and so much more! The world is a much more lonely place without her. God bless you Marianne, you are now with Frank and God and all the animals up in heaven and out of pain and may God be with your family! Love you Anna Ciafardini

My sincere condolences go to Marianne's family. I am so honored to call Marianne my friend and mentor. I will miss her birthday calls and cards. I will always remember how to fold a business letter correctly! Marianne's meat and potato quiche is a favorite for my family and a recipe I have shared with many over the years. As I enjoy the quiche tomorrow on Christmas Day, I will remember Marianne and all of the things she taught and shared with me. I am attaching a photo of Marianne holding my youngest daughter in the fall of 1984. I have always cherished this photo and the love she displayed to my family. I know she and Frank will enjoy Christmas together this year and I hope her family finds some comfort knowing they are together again. I will miss you my dear friend. Love, Cara Creason

Marianne and I met at the Pai Gow table at the Golden Nugget, downtown Las Vegas. We loved to laugh and talk about our cats. I have quite a few items that Marianne gave me, including a cross-stitch about our fondness of each other as friends. Marianne was a wonderful listener and a truly wonderful friend.
