Maria Luisa Nestares Andrade (“Nana”) died peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Raleigh, North Carolina on October 13, 2018.

Born on March 26, 1930, in Madrid, Spain, she married Guillermo Andrade of Ecuador while he was a medical student at the University of Madrid. After living in Ecuador, Connecticut, and Ohio, the family settled in Raleigh in 1979.

She is survived by her children; Luis Guillermo Andrade (Ann) of Mechanicsville, VA and their three sons (Luis, Nicolas, and Alejandro); Luisa Andrade Spivey (Coleman) of Raleigh, NC and their two children (William “Cole” and Maria “Eliza”); Camino Andrade Anthony (John) of Raleigh, NC and their two daughters (Marisa and Sofia); Juan Francisco Andrade of Mill Creek, WA; Iziar del Carmen Andrade of Stem, NC.

A funeral mass is scheduled for October 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Maria Luisa's life.

“Nana” will be remembered for her selfless devotion to her family and steadfast support of her children and grandchildren throughout their lives.
