Lynn Ray Matthews, 54, died July 2, 2015 after a long battle with soft tissue sarcoma.

Lynn was born in Bradford PA to the late Bernard James (Pat) Ray and Emma Mapes Miller. She was a retired Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service. She enjoyed working in her yard but nothing topped spending time with her grandchildren.

She is also survived by mother, Emma Miller of Raleigh, sister Gail McAlhaney of Fort White FL, brothers, Joe and Jeff Ray, of Purcellville VA and sister-in-law, Sarah Ray of Youngsville. Nana regretfully leaves behind “her girls” Alexandra (Alex) and Cameron Jean (CJ) Prescott.

In addition to her father, Lynn was preceded in death by her brother Jon Ray.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Friday, July 10, 2015, followed by visitation with the family. All activities will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home at 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh NC 27615. The family would like to thank Drs. John Soper and Mark Koruda and their staffs of UNC Hospital and Dr. Jeffery Crane and staff of Rex Hospital for their compassionate care the last years.

Lynn was a true blessing. We worked together at the USPS. She was a bright spot in our day. My shock of hearing of her passing is replaced with joy knowing that she has entered into eternal rest. I'll see you again friend!!! Rosalind McKoy McDougal

Lynn had such a gentle way about her and she brought so many smiles to my mother Julie (David's aunt) who passed away in November. I know that my mom was at Lynn's welcoming party when she arrived in Heaven. My sincere condolences extend to David, Abby, her "girls", and the rest of the family.
