Obituary For Lucia Angelina DiMaggio (Macaluso)

Lucia (Lucy) Macaluso DiMaggio was born in Manhattan on March 8, 1927. Lucy was the youngest of three children of Petro and Michelina Macaluso.

Lucy married Anthony (Tony) DiMaggio on September 10, 1949. During their 61 years of marriage they were blessed with two children, Vincent and Marianne.

Lucy was the typical Italian mother. She loved to cook and was always feeding her childrenâ??s friends and her neighbors. Her nickname was â??Mama Lucyâ??.

She was always the life of the party. Her favorite vacation was to spend two weeks in Myrtle Beach, SC where she met the same group of friends, for over 30 years. For the past 4 years, Lucy had spent her summers in NY and winters in NC. In both states she was active in two senior citizens groups and loved to participate in all their activities. Cruising, gambling (slot machines), and family dinners were some of her favorite things to do. Just the sight of a baby would bring a huge smile to her face. One of her hobbies was to collect â??Smiley Faceâ?? knick knacks. Lucy never met a stranger; she would talk to anyone and everyone and would always remember their names.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony, Son and Daughter-In-Law, Vincent and Cheryl DiMaggio of Medford, NY, Daughter and Son-In-Law, Grant and Marianne Heston of Raleigh, NC and four Grandchildren, Vincent, Michael, Michele and Christopher.

I never meet this incredible woman, but I felt as if she was a part of my life. Vinnie lights up every time he shares a story of his grandparents. It sounds like she had a wonderful life. She will be missed by the incredible family and her numerous friends that she left behind in this world as she spends eternity with GOD. Blessings to the entire Dimaggio family. Sincerly,

Dear Family, I'm so sorry that Lucy has passed. She always made me feel like close family and she always made me smile and laugh, especially when we played poker. I'm so glad I got to know her much better these last 10 years and even go on a family cruise with Lucy, Tony and the rest of my Family in NC. She brightened each of my visits and I will miss her. She lived a good life and she and Tony set a strong positive example for all in the family to follow. With Deep Sympathy and Love, Jim
