Louis Harley Coker, 74, of Creedmoor, NC, died on July 13, 2020, at his home. He was born in Charleston, SC, on April 29, 1946, son of the late Robert Lebby Coker Sr. and Elizabeth Harley Coker. Louis grew up in Mount Pleasant, SC, where he attended Moultrie High School. He went on to Methodist University where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration and Economics in 1968. Louis married Mary Alice Rogers on July 5, 1969. Together they raised two wonderful children, Elliott and Alison. At the time of his death, Louis was employed as a Controller for Gilmore Global in Morrisville, NC. He worked there for over twenty years. He was a huge Carolina Hurricanes fan, and he very much enjoyed taking university courses in the Catholic faith and reading. He was an active member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish, including being a member of the RCIA team and a Journeyman. Additionally, he was an active member of the Padre Pio Fraternity of the National Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order and a Lecturer for the Knights of Columbus (council 9709). Louis was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Alice. He is survived by his son, Elliott (Meagan) Coker of Louisburg, NC; daughter, Alison (Mark) Hughes of Creedmoor, NC; eight grandchildren; twin brother, Robert L. Coker Jr. (Sylvia) of Mount Pleasant, SC; niece, Lauren Coker of Raleigh, NC; and cousin-in-law, Rosemary Hamre of Butner, NC.
The Liturgy of the Word will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at St. Francis of Assisi with a Graveside Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Creedmoor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Louis to Oak City Cares at https://oakcitycares.org/donate.
