Obituary For Louis Albert Mitta
Louis Albert Mitta, 87 of Cary, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 2, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Amelia Notorangelo Mitta, his second wife Hendrica Wilhelmina Masseth, and brothers John and Leo (Lucy). Lou was born in Roxbury, MA, son of Pierino and Corrina Mitta and was raised in West Springfield, MA.
After graduating from high school he served in the navy, during the Korean conflict. After serving his country he completed his BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, following with his master’s degree from Syracuse University. After working as a computer engineer for IBM for over 25 years, he finished his career designing the telecommunications network at UNC-Chapel Hill. He loved his sports, especially baseball and UNC basketball and prided himself with his daily exercise regime of swimming. Keeping up with his grandchildren’s activities and events was a priority in his life. Lou valued and maintained his relationships with his family in Torre Santa Maria, Italy. He was a man of high integrity and character. His faith and family were of utmost importance in his life. He will be greatly missed.
Family members celebrating and honoring his life include sisters-in-law Mary (Rocky) Lacertosa, and Helen Mitta, Shirley Notorangelo, brother-in-law Matthew Notorangelo; children, Deborah (Dave), Ave, Ken (Nancy), and Chris (Jill); grandchildren Amelia, John, Julia, Coulter, Anthony, and Sarah; the Masseth family, and many friends.
A special thanks to all the dedicated caregivers from Accessible Home Health Care, Transitions Hospice Care, and Perpetual Home Care who worked with “Mr. Lou” over the past several months.
