Lois Kathleen Blair, 86, of Raleigh, NC, passed away at home, on July 27, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born near Toledo, Ohio on February 29, 1936, to Oscar Fugate and Bernice (Logan) Fugate. Lois graduated from Waite High School in 1954 and completed her associate degree at The University of Toledo before marrying David Blair, also of Toledo, in September 1956. They lived in Ann Arbor for a brief time before moving to Buffalo, NY in 1957, where they settled to raise a family for the next fifteen years. In 1966, she returned to school at the University of Buffalo where she completed her bachelor’s degree and teacher certification in business education. After a one-year return to Ann Arbor, Lois and Dave moved to Massachusetts where Lois taught at Dover-Sherborn High School, at Concord-Carlisle High School, at Natick High School, and at several night school/summer programs for women returning to the workforce. In 1983, Lois and Dave moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, where she was a popular substitute teacher at Millbrook High School until she finally retired in 1999. She and Dave were founding members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and before 2020 she was an active member of a North Raleigh newcomers’ club. She and Dave were also founding members of the local University of Michigan alumni club. She is survived by her husband and their four children: son Mark (Cyndi) of Dexter, MI; daughters Nancy (John) Moses and Carol Blair of Raleigh; and daughter Janet Blair of Savoy, IL. She was a loving grandmother to four: Steven (Emily) of Shelby Township, MI; Catherine (Josh) Huffman of Pinckney, MI; Emily Moses of Minneapolis, MN; and Daniel Moses of Chapel Hill, NC; and a proud great grandmother to Ben & Bridget Blair, and to Raylan Huffman. She is also survived by her brother, J.E. (Vickie) Fugate; nieces Barbara Rumschlag & Kathleen Fugate, and nephew J.E. Fugate II, and their mother Sarah Schuman. She also leaves behind numerous friends, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and cousins-in-law, both near and far.
