Obituary For Linda Keller Dennison

Linda Keller Dennison, 93, died peacefully July 14, 2023 at Springmoor Retirement Community in Raleigh, NC. Linda was born on June 8, 1930 in Hammond, IN to Frank and Florabel Burnett. In high school, Linda was a stellar student and looked forward to spending her summers with her family on Magician Lake. She attended Miami University, graduated with a BA in 1952 and was a member of both Phi Beta Kappa and Kappa Kappa Gamma. It was at Miami where she met her husband, Bert Keller, and they were married on June 28, 1952. After Bert graduated from law school at the University of Cincinnati, they moved to Richmond, IN where their four children were born and raised. In Richmond, Linda was active in Civic Theater, League of Women Voters, the Collegiate Club and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She returned to school to receive her MA in English from Ball State University in 1975. She became a beloved English teacher at Richmond Senior High School where she was also the newspaper and yearbook coordinator. Soon after Bert died on September 4, 1987, Linda retired from teaching at RHS.

Linda married John Dennison, a family friend, in 1990 and moved to Dayton, OH where she joined Sinclair Community College as a part-time English faculty member. In Dayton, Linda was active in Discussion Club, tennis, and the St. Paul’s Episcopal church choir. After John’s death in 2004, she retired to Raleigh, NC to be near her sister, Cary and brother-in-law Jack Peterson. In 2015, Linda moved to Springmoor Retirement Community in Raleigh where she lived until her death.

Linda was loved by so many. She was fun and adventurous and led an active and remarkable life. She enjoyed traveling, camping, reading, singing in the choir, crossword puzzles, and visiting her children and grandchildren across the country. Her favorite event was the annual summer family vacation on the lakes of Michigan, and the beaches of Florida and North Carolina.

Linda is survived by her four children: David Keller (Linda) of Denver, CO, Susan Keller (Mike Crooker) of San Diego, CA, Peter Keller (Kasie) of Savannah, GA, and Mary Keller of Raleigh, NC; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters: Cary Peterson of Raleigh, NC and Sara Hale of Mansfield, OH; stepchildren Bill Dennison, Ellen Collins and Tom Dennison.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on July 28 at 3 pm at Springmoor Retirement Community in Raleigh, NC, and a graveside service will be held at Earlham Cemetery in Richmond, IN on July 30 at 3pm.

I got to know Linda through the Christ Church choir. She was always full of joy. She could lift my spirits with just her beautiful smile.

I have fond memories of Linda at the Newcomers book club. She and I often shared the same opinion of a book...so good to have an ally when one has a minority opinion. May her memory be a blessing to family and friends. Barbara Pildis

The Kellers have always been dear friends to the Martins, and many, and there was no one in the world quite like your dad and mom. I will always remember the special times I spent with you, Mary, and with your mother. She was an amazing, genuine person and I always looked up to her. Your mom's loving and caring spirit will be missed by so many but it lives on in you, Peter, Susan, Dave and your families. Peace and love to each of you. Blyss Martin Allonier

My love to Linda and family; she was so good to so many of us as an extraordinary teacher, and so welcoming to us as at the Keller home. I was so fortunate to have her in my life growing up. Sincerely, John Maley

Linda was one of my favorite residents at Springmoor when she lived in the Supportive Living Area. I loved her sense of humor and wit! She really surprised me one day when I asked her to share a memory with our group and she shouted out the fight song for her alma mater, Miami Indiana!!! She put so much enthusiasm into it!!! She was one of a kind, and through Linda, I now have a dear friend in her daughter, Mary!!❤️
