Obituary For Lillian Rose Scarpinito

Lillian Rose Scarpinito of Raleigh, NC, lost her well-fought battle with brain cancer and aphasia on Thursday, August 15th 2013.

Lilly is survived by loving parents, Frank and Debbie Scarpinito (nee LaMarsh), her devoted aunts and uncles and cherished Goddaughter, Makaylah. Lilly also leaves behind an extremely large extended family. She is predeceased by her adoring maternal Grandmother, Lillian LaMarsh, her paternal Grandparents, Joe and Rose Scarpinitio.

Lillian was about to graduate from ECU with a BS in Education and a BA in English when she was diagnosed. In addition to her studies, she was student-teaching a high school honors class, tutoring students and working part time to put herself through school. Lilly's love for books and literature was surpassed only by her love of her friends and family. She loved anything Arthurian, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, but her heart belonged to Edgar Allen Poe. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 20th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm at the funeral home. An evening service will take place at 7:30pm to allow family and friends an opportunity to share in the great memories of Lillian.

Church service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi, 11401 Leesville Rd., Raleigh, NC 27613 with a one hour gathering prior to the 11:00 am mass.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Lillian to the St. Jude Foundation at www.stjude.org or by calling 800-805-5856.

Lil, you lived alife ao very full of love: for your family, your friends, life, and beautiful words. These are for you... " What other words, we may almost ask, are memorable and worthy to be repeated than those which love has inspired? It is wonderful that they were ever uttered. They are few and rare indeed, like a strain of music, they are incessantly repeated and modulated by memory." Henry David Thoreau

A sweeter, loving, more positive person I've never met. She lived her life the way we all should. I'm sad that Lilli didn't get the chance to live out her dreams, but I'm inspired by the way she lived the life she was given.

There comes a time where all good things must end. The ending that has been bestowed upon us is absolutely the worst feeling in the world. I've missed you since you moved to NC but have kept in touch as much as I could. While I sit at work holding back the tears I know you're looking down on us and making sure we are all safe. I think I speak for our entire elementary school class when I say, Goodbye my dear loving, caring, always smiling friend. You have inspired all of us to be who we are. You will be missed. Infant Jesus/Our Lady of Wisdom Class of 95 forever!

As I sit here, I am at a loss for words to describe you or describe how much you'll be missed so I'll say this - You are one of the most beautiful, caring and intelligent women to have graced this earth and it was an honor to get to spend even a little of my time with you. Love you.

Lilly, I'm going to miss you much. I do not moarn you but I celebrate your life. I love all that you stood for. Your words of encouragement gave me strength and confidence. We share so much, but one that we share is our love for the Color Purple. So I leave this song that we would sing to one another during one of those encouraging moments. Sister, you've been on my mind Sister, we're two of a kind So, sister, I'm keepin' my eye on you. I betcha think I don't know nothin' But singin' the blues, oh, sister, Have I got news for you, I'm something, I hope you think that you're something too I been up that lonesome road And I seen alot of suns going down Oh, but trust me, No-o low life's gonna run me around. So let me tell you something Sister, Remember your name, No twister Gonna steal your stuff away, my sister, We sure ain't got a whole lot of time, So-o-o shake your shimmy Sister, 'Cause honey the 'shug' is feelin' fine. Love you my beautiful Flower!!!

My deepest sympathy. We both attended Cardinal Gibbons. I didn't know Lillian personally, but I remember seeing her at school. My thoughts and prayers to her family and friends.

I so remember Lillian's beaming smile lighting up our home whenever she visited with the Gibbons kids. Jeff, our son, was a friend throughout their high school years and beyond. Lillian's bubbly personality reflected all who she was - a giving, loving person. My deepest condolences to the family, you are all in my prayers, Eileen Anderson

I am so sad to hear about Lily passing, I was to visit last week, but got sick and did not make it. I wish I had pushed myself, so I could have been in her company for one last time she was a beautiful person inside and out, always excited about music and events, and life, a huge fan of Scotland's Albannach and all things Celtic. In our Celtic world , passing is simply part of the circle of life, she is free of pain, and we will all meet again. Slainte Lily, love Annie

Lilly, I always remember all the fun times that we had while in high school. The times that you, Dana, Frank, Chris, Jennifer, Maria and myself all hung out at your folks house for hours on end, laughing, cutting up, just having a wonderful time. What an amazingly sweet smile and laugh you had. I know that Dana is needing you to look after her and I know that you will. God bless you and all of your family.

My heart aches to hear about Lilly, a beautiful person inside and out. I will always cherish the memories of going to see Riverdance, having dinner and drinks after work and hearing about her adventures with her best friend, Dana. I miss her giggle a lot. It is truely an honor to have been one of the many people who's lives she blessed with her kindness. My deepest condolences to her family, friends and her best friend, Dana.

Lily, I only met you a handful of times but I can honestly say that you made me smile every time I was in your presence. You had a glow about you that radiated kindness, happiness, and love. Not many people walk this earth with that ability. Though you are no longer with us your memory will live on in the minds and hearts of every person who was lucky enough to have met you. Lilies family: There are not words enough in any language known to man to express to you my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy. To lose such an amazing person is sad all on it's own, for that person to be your child, well that's an immeasurable pain that I hate to see anyone go through. Very sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3,4 states "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away". Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death. Hope these words give you a new hope.
