Obituary For Kijauna Dorsey Bowman

Kijauna Dorsey Bowman closed her eyes in death on November 2, 2018 in Creedmoor, NC. She was at home surrounded by family and close friends. Kiki (as she was known to some) succumbed to a lengthy illness that she bravely endured for approximately 4 years.

Kijauna was born February 9, 1984 in Baltimore, MD to Michael Dorsey and Echelle Horton. Kiki was the 2nd oldest of a total of 8 siblings. Kijauna completed her education in Montgomery Country, MD. In 2002, she married her high-school sweetheart, Kenneth Emanuel Bowman Jr. From this union came 3 beautiful daughters; Kalia 15, Kamora 10, and Kenly 4. Kijauna was very dedicated to her girls and enjoyed doing arts and crafts projects with them.

The most important milestone of her life was when she symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God by water baptism on May 7, 2004. Kiki firmly believed in the promise at Revelation 21:3, 4 which speaks of a resurrection to perfect health on a paradise earth. She patiently and lovingly used this scripture to explain to her daughters her temporary sleep.

Kiki loved art, dancing, and all kinds of animals; poetry, as well as, a variety of music. She was employed as a receptionist in the medical field.

Kijauna was a true source of encouragement to those who visited or reached out to her via phone or text. She took a firm stand about her beliefs to her doctors and nurses and other healthcare givers. When asked what she wanted or needed she said, “I only want smiles and hugs.”

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband, Kenneth Emmanuel Bowman Jr.; her 3 daughters, Kalia, Kamora, and Kenly; her father, Michael Dorsey Sr.; mother, Echelle Horton; stepmother, Juanita Dorsey; grandfather, Joseph Dorsey Sr.; grandfather, Daniel Boone; father-in-law, Kenneth Bowman Sr.; and mother-in-law, Joyce Bowman; brothers, Michael Jr., Christopher, and Angel; sisters, Brittany, Brooke, Bianca, and Aaliyah; sisters-in-law, Kendra and Erika; uncles, Joseph Jr., Kenneth, Anthony, Andre, and Kinard; aunts, Joan, Karen, Cheryl, Sandy, Sherry, and Mo; nephews, Davon, David Jr., Makai, Logan, and Sebastian; nieces, Mackenzie, Kadyn, and Nalayah and a host of other relatives and friends.

Kiki was preceded in death by her grandmother, Doris Dorsey; grandmother, Romaine Boone; and aunt, Denise Cook.
