Obituary For Kathleen Irish Midboe

Kathleen (Kathy) Irish Midboe of Raleigh, NC, a former resident of Bradenton, FL, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 1, 2022. She was 83 years old.

Kathy was the daughter of the late Ethel (Senecal) and James A. Irish. She was born in Napanoch, NY on November 23, 1939 and graduated in 1958 from Katharine Gibbs Business School in Manhattan. After graduation, Kathy lived in Denver, Germany and Connecticut before meeting the love of her life, dance partner and soulmate, retired Navy Captain, Albert Midboe, during a trip to London, England. They married in 1976.

Kathy is predeceased by her husband, Albert, her sisters Mary Alyce McQuillan and Sally Ann Brown, her brothers James and Thomas Irish, nephews, Daniel McQuillan and P. Christopher Diels and stepson, Carl Midboe.

Kathy moved to Raleigh in early 2018 to be closer to her niece, Kathleen Hall. Survivors include her nieces Janet Condit, Kathleen Hall, Eileen Anglero, Theresa DeCrescenzo, Susan Irish, Betsy Bitner and nephews Jim, Mike, John, Will, Joe, and Bob Irish, step-daughter, Donna (Midboe) Klotz, and dear friends Maureen Rodgers and Shirley Green.

Kathy was well-traveled and lived and visited many beautiful places in her lifetime. Her last trip was to Ireland, and she considered it a very special one as she traveled with her nephews John and Jim and niece Betsy. Kathy loved gourmet cooking and entertaining and was the perfect hostess. She loved crossword puzzles and reading the newspaper to stay current on the happenings of the world. She also loved music and the arts and visited many concert halls and museums, not only in the places she lived, but also around the world during her travels.

Kathy attended many military balls and special parties with her husband. She loved to dress up in her fancy gowns and always looked amazing. Kathy was athletic too. She loved to ski, dance, play tennis, swim, walk and loved gardening. She had a love for wire-haired Dachshunds and was momma to several (PennyLoafer, Barister, Barraster, Sneakers I and II).

Kathy will be cremated and her ashes proudly buried with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in memory of Kathy to the Alzheimer Foundation of America or the Alzheimer Research Foundation .
