Obituary For Katherine Celeste Gohmann

Our beloved Katherine “Kat” Gohmann, 33, died unexpectedly at her home in Raleigh, NC, on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Chapman and Marie McCrickard and David and Kathleen Gohmann, and her uncle, Michael Gohmann.

Kat was born to Stephan Gohmann and Myra McCrickard in New Albany, IN, on September 12, 1990. She graduated from the University of Louisville with a B.A. in Psychology and later received a certificate in radiography. She worked as a medical imaging specialist.

Kat was a beautiful soul. She loved animals, especially her cats and dogs. She liked reading philosophy and appreciated Asian culture and food. She enjoyed ice skating. Kat was creative in photography and artwork. She had a subtle sense of humor and a kind heart. Her deep spiritual insights, although private, led to compassion and empathy. Even in death, her concern for others was a priority. A principle guiding her to seek the goodness in other people was reflected in one of her favorite quotes, “If there is light in the soul, there will be light in the person.” (Buddha)

Kat will be lovingly remembered and missed by her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She requested there be no memorial service. Those wishing to honor her memory may make donations to any mental health organization, a cause close to her heart.

Kat, you were my first friend in Louisville, Kentucky when I had moved there. You were the least judgemental person I have ever met. You had a dry sense of humor that I will really miss. I found the crystals and earrings you sent me in the mail for my birthday. You were such a thoughtful friend. I know we planned that beach trip but weren't able to make it happen yet.
