Obituary For Judith Koski

Judith Koski, 83, of Durham, NC, passed away on July 12, 2024. She was born in Manhattan, NY, on September 13,1940, and was the daughter of the late Pedro and Esther Melendez.

Judy went to high school in Manhattan, New York. After graduating, she married John Koski on March 19, 1960. They moved from NYC to Lyndhurst, New Jersey where Judy worked several jobs including waitressing for Bruno Pizzeria for nearly 25 years. In addition to her family, her passion and love for dance is what she lived for. She danced with her group, The Woodridge Girls, for more than 20 years, and she loved them. After that, she joined a small group that met for fifteen years at the Progressive Dancing Club before moving on to the Firehouse Tango. She spent all those decades dancing and met so many amazing people who became lifetime friends.

After Covid, Judy, John, Judilyn and Johnny moved to a 55 and over community in Durham NC to be closer to her family.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Peter Melendez of Manhattan, New York. She is survived by her spouse, John C. Koski and her three daughters, Karen Koski of New Jersey, Linda Koski Kuzy of Raleigh, NC, and Judilyn Koski of Durham, NC; son in law Rob Kuzy, grandchildren John M. Koski of Durham NC, Alexander Kuzy of Manhattan NY, and Mackenzie Kuzy of Raleigh NC.

A Visitation will be held 10:00-11:45am on Saturday, July 20, 2024, with the Memorial Service beginning at 12:00pm at Renaissance Funeral Home 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. Family and friends are also welcome to a gathering immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Judy Koski to St. Jude’s.
