Obituary For Juan Pichardo-Gutierrez

Juan Jose Pichardo Gutierrez was born in Masaya Nicaragua on December 31st, 1984. His family migrated to Manhattan NY in 1988. Juan was a U.S Marine and was honorably discharged. He was deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in 2004 after the fall of the Twin Towers. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Nyack College, NY. He loved learning and pursued his passion of art and design at Parson School of Design.

Juan AKA “pollo”, “bro”, “tio” is survived by his parents Juan Jose Pichardo Mairena and Candida Gutierrez; sister Dalia Margarita Pichardo Gutierrez and niece and nephews Isaac Collado, 22, Maili Collado, 20, Ian Collado, 16 and Sebastian Collado, 7. His dog Princess will also miss him.

Juan was sweet, kind and giving and had such a charming personality, contagious laugh and silly out of pocket sense of humor. He was always ready to fight for what he believed in. He was protective of his family.

Juan loved visiting museums, writing poems and drawing. He enjoyed listening to house music and admired all genres. He loved working out, and practicing and teaching Mixed Martial Arts. Juan found pleasure in shaken espressos, eating sushi/sashimi and finding different restaurants to eat at. He loved watching stand-up comedy and had a laugh that came from his gut.

His philosophy was to treat everyone with kindness, respect, and equality. He enjoyed meeting new people. He saw humor in everything, it's what helped him cope with lige's challenges.

Juan will be immensely missed by his family who deeply loved him and cherished him. When he passed to be with Jesus, he was surrounded by loved ones.

Juan was a lovely guy, working with him was an honor and I'm going to miss him a lot. His smile and his positive attitude were a gift every day. Juan, wherever you are please be always you, and keep going our jokes and laughs with someone else. I'll keep them in my heart. My sincere condolences to all his family. Lilly

When I think about Juan I think about courage, humor (goofy make you laugh at yourself humor! Don't even think of taking yourself too seriously) camaraderie, kindness and authenticity. Juan you always found the positive in challenges and faced them head on. You recently told me you were proud of yourself for how you faced adversity, looked it in the face and rose above. I feel blessed to know you, root for you and laugh together about what a wild ride is life.
