Major Joseph John O’Kobrick, Jr. U.S.A.F. Retired, Raleigh
Joseph John O’Kobrick Jr., 80, of 1200-6 Carlos Drive, Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away December 27, 2018, as the result of a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Joe was born February 6, 1938, Bronx, New York to the late Joseph John O’Kobrick and Jessie Agnes Jardine O’Kobrick. He graduated from Fordham Prep High School, NYC, followed by Manhattan College, NYC, with a Masters Degree in Astronautics Space Facilities and Civil Engineering.
Major Joseph O’Kobrick U.S.A.F. retired from service as Base Civil Engineer in 1980. Enlisting as an officer in 1960 during the Vietnam War and serving on bases across the United States and Germany throughout his military career.
In 1980, Joe opened General Business Services in Raleigh, NC, a business Consultant firm for small business owners. He maintained the business until his retirement in 2012.
Joe loved his family, was a voracious reader, an art enthusiast, enjoyed traveling, cooking, family dinners and was particularly fond of puns. For many years, until his health failed, he volunteered alongside his wife at Catholic Parish Outreach. He was most proud of being Zoë’s “Grandpa.”
Surviving are wife of 54 years, Mary Ann O’Kobrick; two children, Carole Jean O’Kobrick of Raleigh, NC and Frank Joseph O’Kobrick (Catherine) of Wake Forest, NC; one grandchild, Zoë of Wake Forest, NC; brother, Edward George O’Kobrick (Charlotte) of Lindenhurst, New York; sister-in-law Francis Mencsik of Dayton, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service to be held Friday, January 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615 with Pastor Michael Nelson officiating. Interment Saint Francis of Assisi Memorial Garden and Columbarium.
The family will receive friends and family from 3:00-5:00 p.m. following the service, Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. Condolences to the family may be made at RFHR.com.
