  There is a tremendous amount of good memories and things to say about John Bailey. He demonstrated with action what a good son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin he was. A bunch of this was done with humor like when he bought John Robert moon shoes and a five foot tall Gumby for Christmas...Who wouldn't want that? Or when we all went to Yosemite for the very first time stopping everywhere before our actual destination taking pictures of the countryside only to arrive at the valley floor at the end of the day to be totally amazed by the natural beauty God created. It was funny to us at the time, a life lesson and a fantastic trip. We remember John's fondness of sharing old fashion candy with nieces, nephews and kids of all ages. This was something he learned from his mom and John took it to the next level by also sharing bread, pastries and homemade gelato just to name a few. John just loved to share and make others happy. With that said John's absolute greatest legacy is that of a loving husband to Mary and father of Danny & Sean. John could not of loved them more or had better friends. While it has been documented that John liked to travel his favorite destination was always home playing with the boys and being with Mary. May the memories you created for us and your many traditions including Fridays being family pizza and movie night live on. We will see you again someday. (JZ)

  My condolences to Mary, Sean, Danny and all of John's family, especially Cindi and Kathy. John was the brother that I wish I could have had. Generous and kind, hard working and loving. I know we all have an Angel to watch over us now.

  This may show up twice. Somehow, it didn't save the first time. Anyway, John was my first best friend, and one of the absolutely funniest people I've ever known. One Sunday afternoon, when we were still in high school, Bill Jackson and I spotted John driving. Somehow, we turned it into a chase. We're following John, and Bill says "John just moved into the passenger seat." He was still driving! It's still the funniest thing I've ever seen. Some of my best memories were of being at the Bailey house at the end of Dewey Avenue, with Cindy and Kathy, then at Ruby Street in Belmont. John's father, Bob, who died very young, remains one of the finest men I ever knew. You're lucky if a person like John even just passes through your life. Farewell, my Friend.

  John was my first best friend. He is one of the absolutely funniest people I've ever known. One Sunday afternoon when we were still in high school, Bill Jackson and I were just driving around, and spotted John driving. Somehow, we all decided to turn it into a chase, with us after John. We're following him, and the next thing I know, Bill says "John just moved into the passenger seat." He was still driving the car! I still think it's the funniest thing I've ever seen.   John has always been one of the most helpful colleagues. If you were working on a project together and you didn't have time to put together an implementation plan, he would do one for you. He never asked for any thanks. That was just the type of person he was. His knidness and his sharing of himself and his willingness to help others are priceless gifts he gave to those of us who were lucky enough to know him. John, may your spirit watch over your family and continue to bring them the comfort they will need. Bob Drischel

  There's a line from a poem that has always stuck with me in times like these: Sometimes, God breaks our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. John was one of the few - so thoughtful, caring, and God loving. I suppose he has greater things to accomplish up in Heaven. I wish much peace to his wife and young children.

  I will miss seeing John in his beloved Steelers cap and jacket, and enjoying snow cones after soccer games. Certainly, the best of John will live on through Mary, Sean and Danny...........and those whose lives he touched along the way....coast to coast! Am so grateful to have known John!   To all the Bailey family, I am so sorry about Johns passing. I have thought about all of you and especially recently. I use to be Frances Rawson and graduated with Cindi from high school. Class of 1976. I use to spend a lot of time at your house when I was growing up and have wonderful memories of all of you! I recently found Cathy on FB. I have thought about Mrs. Bailey many times in my life and love her. My mother, Nellie Rawson and her were very good friends. Cindi, I would love to talk to you again and know that I will be praying for you and your whole family! I remember John even as we were children to be such a nice guy. I am so very sorry!

  I had the pleasure of knowing John for the four years that I attended WVU--Freshman year at Stalnaker Hall, and sharing an apartment with John, Alan, Bob, and Vince at 213 1/2 Grand View Avenue. John had the biggest personality of anyone who I have ever met. He was a wonderful friend and a great roommate. He could make anyone laugh and often, when we would all go out to a meal, he would have me laughing so deeply and continuosly, that i could not eat my meal. He introduced me to Monty Python and he would often demonstrate the "minister of funny walks" sketch in public. I hope his wife ad children understand what a great person he was.
