Obituary For John Rombout

John Rombout, 97, of Raleigh, NC went home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2024. He was a man of great resilience, determination, compassion, generosity and faith.

John was born in The Netherlands in 1927 and immigrated to the United States in 1955 with his wife, the love of his life, Maaike (Los) Rombout. They both always had a heart for Holland and were very proud to be Americans.

John was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister and brother.

Affectionately known as Opa, he will be fondly remembered by his son, Laurence Rombout, daughter, Pamela Stanson and her husband, John, six grandchildren, six great-grandsons and a host of devoted nieces, nephews and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Raleigh, NC on October 19th at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s honor to the Knights of Columbus Council #12455 (c/o St. Luke Church, 12333 Bayleaf Church Road, Raleigh, NC 27614) for their numerous charitable efforts including Catholic Parish Outreach where John volunteered for many years.
