Obituary For John Philip LaRocca

John P. LaRocca, born in Syracuse, New York, resident of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away unexpectedly on Friday April 7, 2017 at the age of 49. John was preceded in death by his father F. Anthony LaRocca.

John was an avid outdoorsman, a tailgating master, a beer enthusiast and the founder of Phoenix Commercial Properties. He received the esteemed Silver Beaver Award for his long-standing service and dedication to the Boy Scouts; was a member of the Executive Council Board for Boy Scouts of America; and was one of the original founders of Sons of Italy. John was committed to taking care of all of those he loved. His giving spirit and fiery passion will be dearly missed.

John is survived by his wife Suzanne Thomas LaRocca and by his 4 children Alexandra, Connor, Anderson and Braeden and his mother, M. Carol LaRocca. Visitation will be on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 5-8 pm at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 2761. Funeral, will be at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 600 W Holding Ave, Wake Forest, NC 27587 on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Occoneechee Council Endowment Fund, Boy Scouts of America 3231 Atlantic Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27604 are greatly appreciated.

    Such a big and vivacious personality to be lost so young. I have great memories of tailgating with John and the LaRocca family! He was always so welcoming to me and my family.
