Dr. John Lawrence ââ?¬Å?Jackââ?¬Â? Minard, formerly of Raleigh, died Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the age of 76 with family by his side. He was born January 12, 1935 in Pittsburgh. Dr. Minard graduated in 1957 from Notre Dame University and earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed a successful career as a psychiatrist, and enjoyed long-distance running, golf and time spent with his children and grandchildren. A lifelong devout Catholic, he committed shortly before his death to the Franciscan Third Order. He lived and died with a strong faith in God. Dr. Minard was preceded in death by his mother Ellen Hogan Minard, his father Joseph J. Minard and his brother, Joseph Howard Minard. He is survived by wife Christina K. Minard of Raleigh; sister Mary Lou Kloss of Painesville, OH; daughter Lisa Minard Stiefvater of Pelham, NY; daughter Michelle Minard Davis of Orlando, FL; daughter Leslie Minard Friend of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter Anne Elizabeth Minard of Flagstaff, AZ; son John Lawrence ââ?¬Å?Jackââ?¬Â? Minard II (Rainer) of Pensacola, FL; son Michael Miles Minard (Gretchen) of Cullman, AL; and nine grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Pittsburgh, with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Franciscan Third Order Scholarships to Assisi at 1515 W.
