John James Swain of Raleigh, NC, 84 passed away quietly in his sleep on April 5th. John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jan. John is fondly remembered by his daughters Shirley Duehring of Raleigh and Kathleen Archambault, as well as her husband, Yves, from Atlanta. John was blessed to have 5 loving grandchildren Sam & Lauren Duehring of Raleigh; Zachary, Chloe & Olivia Archambault of Atlanta. John was born in Columbus Ohio. He retired as an Executive Mortgage Vice President from Galbreath Bank in the late 80â??s. Since that time he has spent his days with his passions; fishing, golfing, volunteering & the joy he found with his active men's group. John & Jan recently moved to North Carolina to be closer to family. Prior to this move, they resided in The Villages, FL. A memorial mass honoring and celebrating the life of John Swain will be held at St. Lukeâ??s Catholic Church on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 10:30am followed by Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Johnâ??s memory to Habitat for Humanity.
