Obituary For John D. Di Vittorio

John D. Di Vittorio 89, of Raleigh, NC passed away on October 17, 2016.

Born on January 26, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph Di Vittorio and Rose (Reardon) Di Vittorio.

John is survived by his loving wife, Alberta; sister, Rosemary; children, John(Lynne), Mark(Diane), Linda(Jeff), Mary, Thomas (Liz); grandchildren, Megan, James, Allison, Jennifer, Heather, Rosanne, Nicole, Matthew, Michael, Madeleine, Sean, Ryan; great-grandchildren, Kaia and Nicolas.

John was a devoted husband for 67 years. He was a loving father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and a WWll Victory Medal recipient. He was a member of The Sierra Club and The Cursillo.

John retired from GMAC after 35years. He volunteered at St Thomas Hospital and The Room At The Inn. John donated over 1,000 gallons of blood The American Red Cross. He enjoyed watching sports, listening to Big Band music and Country Western music,reading mystery novels and exercising.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Joseph Di Vittorio Jr.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial mass at 11 a.m. at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 12333 Bayleaf Church Rd, Raleigh, NC 27614. A rite of committal in the church columbarium will immediately follow the mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
