Some of my favorite childhood memories were spent at Uncle Jake & Aunt Hazel's home. Uncle Jake always had time for me. We shared an affinity for all things automobile and he would let me tag along and help while he tinkered on his latest project car. I never left their home without a kind or encouraging word from Uncle Jake. He was a great guy and I will miss him.

We have so many wonderful memories of Jesse. He was a great influence on both of our lives and we are so thankful for his friendship. We will remember him as a great pilot but most importantly as a Godly man. We just pray that he and Stanhope aren't causing too much trouble in heaven. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Mrs. Collum and the family, my heart aches for you. Jesse was my pilot on so many flights I cannot count them. We travelled to so many distant places and my trust in his abilities was never shaken. He made an indelible impression on me as a professional pilot and the finest of men. He was a dear, dear friend and a dedicated Civil Air Patrol member.

Our heart was saddened to learn of JW's departure. How well do I remembered as just a boy, he was my Jr. Boys SS teacher. As our Boy's Club leader, he would take us on hikes along the River Road and on Friday nights to the YMCA in Wilmington. A kind, gentle spirit were his trade marks. I had the highest respect for him. RIP my friend

Hazel, I am so sorry to have read of Jesse's passing in todays N&O. We haven't kept in touch over the years, but I still have fond memories of your family while Tom (Stanhope) and Jesse were in CAP together. I'm so glad you have your children and grandchildren to help you through. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Jesse was a great flight instructor. If it was not for him I would have never gotten my Commercial rating. I will miss Jesse.

Jake was a wonderful brother-in-law and a 'genuine' friend. He will be missed very much. May God's presence surround each of you in your sadness. Love, Ruby (Aunt Ruby)
