Obituary For Jerome "Skip" Garrison

Mr. Jerome “Skip” Garrison, 85, currently of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on March 15, 2022. He was the son of the late O. J. Garrison and Marjorie Holderfield, of Birmingham, AL. Skip was born April 12, 1936, in Birmingham, AL on Easter Sunday. He earned his BS degree from the University of Tennessee and his MBA from University of Maryland. His first job brought him to Lake Charles, LA, where he met the love of his life, Patsy Rae Stevenson.

His life will be forever cherished in the lives of his family: Patsy, his wife of 58 years; Jeris, his sister of Katy, TX; children: David (& Betsy) Garrison of Raleigh, NC; and Mark (& Susan) Garrison of Waller, TX; and seven grown grandchildren: Mike, Lindsey, Kevin, Chris, Lauren, Danielle, and Tim.

Skip’s successful career as Logistics Manager at Johnson & Johnson and Colgate-Palmolive spanned 35 years including promotions that moved the family from Lake Charles, LA, to Sherman, TX, to Downers Grove, IL and finally Framingham, MA. During his career, his travels enabled him to see all the states but Hawaii, and much of Europe. One of the greatest benefits of his work was being able to bring Patsy on several of his business trips to Russia and Europe and make multiple five-week, cross-country trips with the whole family…including the dog!

Skip and Patsy retired to Cadiz, KY in 1995. Skip spent 24 years serving the community with his participation in: the annual Trigg County Ham Festival, RSVP (Volunteers mentoring kids in school), Take a Kid Fishing Day, and Serving as President on the Homeowners Board in Woodfield Estates. He loved Lake Barkley and the surrounding area, plus all the special friends they made there. He also enjoyed the country life working outside; feeding and watching the birds and deer; boating; hunting; and fishing. Per his wishes, his ashes will be spread in Cadiz, KY, this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Shriner’s Hospital.
