Christopher Jon Anderson, 28, of Raleigh, North Carolina, died on January 23, 2021, of complications from Nephrotic Syndrome (not related to COVID). Chris was surround by his wife, Leah, and his parents, Mark and Kari.

Chris was born at Duke Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, on February 2, 1992. His family relocated to Westminster, Maryland, in 2001, where he attended high school at Westminster High. Chris achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and at the age of 17 served on the Board of Directors of The ARC of Carroll County. Chris graduated from North Carolina State University (NCSU) with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. While at NCSU, he met his loving wife, Leah, through a mutual friend. Chris asked for her hand in marriage during a trip to Paris, France. After flying both his and Leah’s parents to witness the engagement, Chris and Leah were married on November 24, 2019, at Walnut Hill in Raleigh, North Carolina.

In the spring of 2020, Chris and Leah purchased a home in North Raleigh and on November 8, 2020, welcomed the birth of their daughter, Blake Everly. Chris was a not only an amazing husband, but also a loving father and friend. Chris had a heart for service and would help anyone in need without accolades or attention for himself. Chris was a sports fan, specifically soccer which he played from his childhood through high school in Westminster.

It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of our son, husband, father, and friend. The service will be virtual on Saturday, January 30,2021 at 1pm. CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE FUNERAL

Chris Abbate

Chris was my cubicle neighbor at ImmunityBio when he joined the company in 2019. Chris would write a riddle on his whiteboard almost every morning and anyone who passed by would stop and make a guess. He would just smile quietly at our myriad and ridiculous answers. Then when someone gave the correct answer, he would turn to the board and write the answer beneath the riddle and put a mark next to that person's name. Yes, we had started keeping track of how many correct answers each of us had! He was a great guy and co-worker. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Chris Abbate

I didn't know Chris real well, but he was always so happy when I would see him at family gatherings. At cousin Jon's funeral Chris and I talked and he told me all about his beautiful engagement "operation". He was so proud of pulling that off and making everyone so happy. I told him he had set the bar so high, but as we know now - he was so right and capable. He was the best son, fiance, husband and now father. Rest in peace Chris. C.J. sat with my mom and me at Kirsten's wedding. That's when we met him. He kept us in stitches with his humor. It felt like we had always known him. What a sweet soul. Brenda West
