Obituary For Jeffrey Dean Neblett
Jeffrey Dean Neblett, age 45, of Raleigh, NC passed away on January 13, 2014 after a brief but very difficult battle with cancer. Jeff was born in Baltimore, MD. He is survived by his loving wife, Katherine Baker Neblett and his two beloved daughter; Emily and Abigail, all of Raleigh. Jeff’s loving mother, Sandra Dean McKoy, recently predeceased him, and his devoted stepfather, Joseph E. McKoy, continues to reside in Chocowinity, NC. Additional survivors are Jeff’s father, Carroll F. Neblett and step-mother, Anne M. Neblett of Chesterfield, VA; half-brother Evan B. Neblett of Newport News, VA, and step-sisters Jennifer A. Turns and Leslie C. Franklin. Jeff grew up in Prince George County, Virginia and graduated as valedictorian from Prince George High School. He attended the University of Virginia where he earned highest honors in both undergraduate and master’s degrees in Systems Engineering. In 1998, Jeff joined SAS, Inc. in Cary, NC as a Senior Software Developer and worked in SAS internal workflow systems and was a vital and highly respected employee in his area. Jeff was a very knowledgeable stamp and coin collector for many years and maintained and enjoyed his extensive stamp collection. He also was an avid sports fan and loved to follow his UVA Cavaliers in all their athletic events. In addition, Jeff was a leader in many charitable activities and was very active in the Raleigh Jaycees, and was real activist for the Raleigh GoodFellows project. Jeff was loved and respected by everyone who had the good fortune to know him. The visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., January 15th at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh NC. The funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, conducted by the Rev. David Mallory at Renaissance Funeral Home in Raleigh, with interment services following at Raleigh Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome, but as an alternative, the family suggests memorial contributions to Goodfellows of Raleigh (www.goodfellows.org), or to Hospice of Wake County (www.hospiceofwake.org).
