Obituary For Jean Meierer

Jean M. Meierer, age 89, passed away on June 18, 2012. She was born on February 18, 1923 in Martinsburg, NY to Michael and Catherine (Socha) Lesniak and moved to Niagara Falls, NY as a baby. On May 26, 1941, Jean married Ralph F. Meierer who has waited in heaven for 19 years to be with his â??Ginyaâ?? again. Jean was a member of Sacred Heart Church where she attended mass daily for the last 20 years that she lived in Niagara Falls. She was the last remaining member of the Ladies of Charity of her parish. In 1999 Jean moved to Raleigh, NC with her daughter where she joined the Sacred Heart Cathedral. She was a member of the Catholic Golden Agers and the Hedingham Hi-Milers senior group. Jean was known as â??Momâ?? to her children, Ralph W. Meierer (Karen) of Bourbonnais, IL, Robert E. Meierer (Kathy) of Raleigh, NC and Marie J. Hailey (Roger) also of Raleigh. She was called â??Gramâ?? By her five grandchildren, Roger J. and Jeff Hailey, Joe (Jennifer) and Tim (Tonya) Meierer and Megan Meierer. Her seven great-grandchildren affectionately called her (Babci). They are Bryce and Carson Hailey, Jacob, Sam and Avery Meierer and Luke and Ryan Meierer. Her family was the world to her and she was truly loved by all of her family. And to all her friends and anyone who met her, she was â??the sweetest ladyâ??. Jean is also survived by a special niece, Dolly (Pat) Ciraolo and a number of other nieces and nephews. Jean had a prayer list that was a mile long. Many people called her to pray for them which she did every night. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral located on Hillsborough St. on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm. A grave side service will be held on Monday June 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at The Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Town of Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of oneâ??s choice. Our thanks to the Wake County Hospice for the kind care given to our mother.
