Janncey Lane Wellons Ferrell, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the age of 82. She was born to the late Herman and Doris Wellons on May 13, 1936 in Freemont, North Carolina. She attended Meredith College on scholarship and graduated with a BA in Mathematics from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.

Janncey was a retired teacher with the Wake County School District in North Carolina. She taught math at Enloe High School until her retirement. Janncey was dedicated to her teaching career and ensuring her students were prepared for higher education and life.

Janncey was an accomplished seamstress, chef, and musician. She enjoyed homemaking and entertaining and will be remembered for always trying new things. Another lifelong passion was music. She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed performing publicly and privately for family and friends. Janncey’s dedication to Meredith College earned her an award for her service as an alumnae.

She is survived by her 3 children; daughter, Charlene Newsom; son Stanley Ferrell (Donna); daughter, Diana Howard (Bill); and her four grandchildren; Lillian Newsom, Abigail Newsom, Sean Ferrell, and Patrick Ferrell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Doris Wellons, of Kinston, NC and her brother,Charles Wellons, of Shawboro, NC.

A memorial service will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd., Raleigh, NC 27615 on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will be held following the service.
