Obituary For Janice Marie Garcia

On Thursday November 4, 2021, Janice Marie Garcia passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep, in bed at her Wake Forest home, in the company of her Miniature Australian Shepherd "Meghan". She was 61 years old.

Born March 19, 1960, in Florissant Missouri, Janice lived a vibrant and diverse life, from Navy Corpsman to Sales to Banking and more, across the United States, always working tirelessly in support of her family, including her husband and constant companion of 38 years, Diego, who passed away September 5, 2020, and her son Francis, who she is survived by.

Janice was a fiery and passionate soul whose heart was always open to causes or people in need. She loved animals (especially her dogs, cats, and chickens), food, nature, rock music, videogames, crossword puzzles, literature, astronomy, and explorations of spirituality. She never once let herself be categorized or pigeonholed, diversifying her interests every year.

In addition to her son, she is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Katie, and her granddaughter, Guinevere. In her last year of life she was blessed with the opportunity to spend an entire summer with her granddaughter, sharing junk food, staying up late, playing games, and making memories. She began learning Spanish. She rollerbladed with her granddaughter. She vacationed at the North Carolina coast. Though the loss is irreparable, know that she lived well.

A private family service will be held at a location yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the National Wildlife Federation.

For there is no friend like a sister, in calm or stormy weather but, to cheer one on the tedious way, to fetch one if one goes astray, to lift one if one totters down, be to strengthen whilst one stands.-Christina Rossetti This was from a book Hugs for Sisters by Philis Boultinghouse...This is one of the many great gifts Jan gave me. She had a strong fiesty spirit and warm heart!! She was not just a sister but one of my 3 moms. I will always carry with me her love and be inspired and grateful for everything she brought to my life and the person I am today. I am glad she is with Diego and had such an amazing love and life. Love and hugs Francis, Katie and Guin and all who were touched by her amazing spirit. Fly high fiesty angel!

Janice my sister will be greatly missed. Of the 4 sisters growing up we referred to her as the "Mother Hen" for the warm nuturing she provided to all of us. Jan was always available to lend a quick Ear to offer comfort in troubling times. Janice was blessed with her life long spouse she often referred to as "Eggo" along with her wonderful son Francis, Katie and of course Guin that she loved dearly. Janice was very greatful for the times with Guin playing shark bite and in her words "She has a wonderful fun personality... very silly". Janice was very proud of Francis and shared with me the story of a fountain that her "Eggo" bought her and Francis helped put together. Janice said "I love drinking my coffee outside listening to the water splashing, and the little birds do too". Janice my sister my friend will be truely missed but never forgotten. I would like to dedicate a couple of songs to her.1. Gone to Soon "Simply Plan" 2. Spirit in the Sky by "Norman Greenbaum" and 3. Knocking on Heaven's Door by "Bob Dylan". Lastly Janice's sorrow for the loss of her precious "Eggo" reminded my of a song that really reminds me of Janice. Everything I own "Bread" Here is one quote from the song " And I would give anything I own I'd give up my life, my heart, my own And I would give anything I own Just to have you back again Just to talk to you words again Just hold you once again Janice you are so missed. I'm glad you are with the love of your life now.

It is still difficult for me to accept that my funny, loud and passionate sister, Janice is no longer with us. While I miss her terribly, I take refuge in remembering all the good sisters times we enjoyed together and in her legacy as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and simply great person. Janice was a very strong woman with a keen intellect and a great sense of humor. My heart goes out to my incredible nephew, Francis for the loss of his mother so soon after losing his father, Diego. Whenever I see pictures of Francis's daughter Guin, I think of Janice ( especially the smile!) and always will. All my love, Nancy Jensen

I am so incredibly saddened by this news. I loved my cousin, Janice, and her energetic, passionate spirit! We were fortunate to have "cousin time" during our early years, at our grandparent's house in MO, and to reunite for a brief time as young adults watching our sons play together in CA. We shared so many laughs and memories. First Diego, now Janice...Surely their beautiful spirits have reunited and are with you, Katie, and Guin, Francis. I do have pictures from your time as a child near us in CA. If you send me your email address, I'll look for them and get copies to you in the coming months. Gentle hugs to you. My deepest condolences. Linda (brucemos@hotmail.com)

Janice was an incredible mother and grandmother. Paula and I where grateful for how she raised such an exceptional young man, our son-in-law Francis, and how much she loved her, and our, granddaughter Guin. How someone loves and cares for others is a testament to their life, making Janice's life full of love for her family. We will miss Janice, as we still miss her life's love Diego. Together they now rest, still very much in love with each other, in the arms of God. Paula and Nate Webster
