Obituary For James Richard Northup

James Richard Northup, 80 of Raleigh, died Thursday evening August 23, 2018. Jim was born in Las Animas, CO, the son of the late George Everett Northup and Dorothy Marie Monk. He attended high school in Sidney, NE and college at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Jim began his computer career at the FBI in Washington, DC, followed by the US Department of Agriculture, and then spent 30 years at the IBM Corporation. After retiring from IBM, he founded his consulting firm and continued working until the age of 72. Jim is survived by his wife Mae Colwell Northup of Raleigh; son Doug (Tami) of Graham, NC; grandchildren Kevin, Scott and Stacey Kay of Raleigh; and brother Harry (Holly Prado) of Los Angeles, CA. He was preceded in death by his brothers George and Robert and sister Dorothy Gay. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Public Radio or The USO.

It was and still is a sad day for so many of us. Jim and I shared so many memories. The last reunion in Sidney after dinner Jim and I shared a beer (or two) and for almost two hours we just talked about all the things (good and bad) we did together during our high school years.
