James Maurice Liles, III (Jim) was born on February 14, 1963, and passed away on January 7, 2022, at the age of 58. He is survived by his son, J. M. Liles IV (Jimmy); his sister, Doris Jean Liles and her son, Dillon Hyde; his mother, Sara Stockton Liles; and his estranged wife, Renee Tittle. He was preceded in death by his father, J. M. Liles, Jr. and his grandparents, Doris and Harvey Stockton of Elkin, NC and Rachel and J. M. Liles of Monroe, NC.

Jim was born in Illinois at Chanute Air Force Base but lived most of his life in Raleigh. The family did live in South Salem, NY from 1977 to 1979, where he attended John Jay High School. Upon returning to Raleigh, Jim attended Millbrook High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from UNC Wilmington. He formed his own company: JL III, Builders. He made many friends during his life: classmates, neighbors, clients and even some casual acquaintances. If you were his friend and needed something, he would do everything he could to assist you. Jim’s son, Jimmy, is a senior in high school and still needs his dad as much as ever, maybe more as he starts to make decisions that will impact the rest of his life. His Dad was his rock, his whole foundation. His family and friends will be there to steady him as he tries to find balance, all while grieving with him for the loss of our family member and friend.

A Memorial Service will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home at 2pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Masks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made to COVID loss of my father, Jim Liles or to the Wake County SPCA or a an animal shelter of your choice.
