Jack had such a big heart and a warm smile. Always encouraging and honest. He also had a unique perspective of life. The small things never bothered him and he never gave up. His laugh was infectious, I'm going to miss that most. When he loved he loved strong. He taught me to keep going no matter what because I had the will behind whatever I was doing. Coffee will always taste extra special now. Cake will be anthems. Jack will always hold a special place in my heart.

Jack was one of the kids I grew up with. We spent summers three doors down from Jack. Jack, my sister, and I (give or take few other neighborhood kids) were always somewhere in the water playing. Our Dads were pros at slinging kids off a tube into the water - Jack was a pro at hanging on. On the stormy afternoons, we sat inside, barefoot & tanned, drinking the cherry juice Jacks Dad made for us. We rode bikes up & down the road. We were true river rats. They were good days. Farewell, Jack.

Chaunce, I will miss our many conversations about football (your love for the Panthers & making fun of me for being a Browns fan), us comparing who does better squats or who could run longer on the treadmill, and the endless pranks we would do to each other while you were working at CHA. I always think of Jack whenever Ayn Rand comes up because he convinced me to read The Fountainhead and then picked my brain over countless cigarettes. Even though we went separate ways after our sophomore year, he was once my close friend and someone I spent nearly everyday with. From a preschool class at Kindercare to the NCSU dorms and a crazy summer driving between Greenville and Chocowinity, Jack definitely left his mark on my life. I hope that he knew that he was important, that he knew happiness, and that his friends and family find comfort.

Our latest memory of Jack was in pictures with his Dad while visiting Mary Dee's bedside while prepping for a procedure...Jack was tall, strong, and supportive..so tall that his Dad had to climb on a stool to be in the picture (hee.hee).. he shared his time with his parents when they needed him most...now he's walking with Jesus in the light of God...we'll all be together one day...praying for comfort during this time...much love..

Jack had a special gift of lifting your spirit whenever you made contact with him. He exuded happiness and it was contagious! I know that such a persona was an inspiration to me and I am certain to all who had the privilege of knowing him. I look forward to seeing you again, my friend.

I worked with Jack a few years ago and although I didn't know Jack that well he was always very friendly & warm when we spoke. Even after he stopped working with us, he would drop by periodically to say hello. In our typically brief exchanges, he often made me laugh. It was clear that Jack was extremely bright and a fundamentally good person. He was friendly, easy to get along with and had a great sense of humor. I'm sad to know that he's gone and I know he will be missed.
