Obituary For James Anthony Belcastro

James (Jim) Anthony Belcastro, 70, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina passed away on April 21, 2020 with his wife, daughter, and son by his side.

Born January 3, 1950 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Dominic and Lucy (Corrado) Belcastro. He was a 1967 graduate of Monaca High School in Pennsylvania and was a 1979 graduate of Gannon University in Erie, PA., where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. In 1971, Jim married the love of his life, Dr. Bonita Rowan Belcastro. Together they lived in Erie, PA and raised two children: Rebecca, currently residing in Durham, NC and Jesse who resides in Holly Springs, NC

Jim worked in the electroplating industry for most of his career. Prior to retiring, he was an aerospace consultant.

He enjoyed cooking, fishing, music, and sports. He shared these interests with family and friends including a yearly fishing camp trip with the guys, family dinners while watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, and cooking elaborate holiday meals. Most of all, Jim unconditionally loved his family and friends. He was the first to help anybody in need, spent endless hours coaching and watching his children’s sports teams, and traveling the world with his wife. He will be remembered as “Papa” by his three grandchildren, Brenner Simon Belcastro, Blake Paul Belcastro, and Finley James Martin.

Jim is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, sister Donna Belcastro and brother David Belcastro of Pennsylvania, sister in law Donna Leone of Ohio, and Arlene Manale of Florida. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In character with Jim's modesty he requested no services after his passing, but wanted his family and friends to honor him in any way they wanted. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions the family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Chuck Noll Foundation for Brain Injury Research, 3400 S. Water Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203. https://chucknollfoundation.org/
