Jackie Bazeka Lubadika Valaka, or “Mama Jackie” as she was affectionately called, passed away on July 7, 2023, in Raleigh, NC. She was 66.

Jackie was born on January 4, 1957 to Dr. Botha Lubadika and Maman Marie Lukiesa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She was the second of eight. In 1976, she would meet her future husband, Salomon Valaka. After their marriage in 1982, Salomon would go on to the United States to establish a better life. Jackie followed shortly after with their young son.

She loved the Lord, and her favorite things were going to church and spending time with her family all over the world.

As she has gone on to be with the Lord, Mama Jackie was predeceased by her parents Dr. Botha and Marie Lubadika, sister Joséphine Lubadika, and brother Jeff Bweyamona Lubadika. She is survived by her husband Salomon Valaka, her two sons, Alain Diyalukila Valaka with his wife, Angie King Valaka, and Magloire Lubadika Valaka, with his wife, Kenya Monique Valaka and son, Khalil Magloire Valaka. She is also survived by sisters Mamie Kumbelanga, Cécile Dienayaku, Mimie Lubadika, Justine Lubadika Wuta, brother Papy Ngombau Lubadika and a brood of nieces and nephews. Mama Jackie also leaves behind an infinite number of friends and a loving Congolese community.

A visitation will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 7:00-9:00pm. Services will be held the following day at Beacon Baptist Church on July 22, 2023. The viewing will be at 9am and the service will begin at 11am.
