Obituary For Jack A Kaufman
On the 29th day, November 2018, Jack A. Kaufman peacefully passed away in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the age of 93.
Jack was born on August 23, 1925, in Paris, France, to Hersh B. and Masza F. Kaufman. He grew up in Paris, France with his sister, Sarah, where he met and married his wife Fanny before emigrating to the U.S. Jack served as an operative of the French Underground, during World War II, a network of operatives who worked to undo the efforts of the occupying German army. It was their effort that in many ways made the difference in the final liberation of France and then all of Europe during the Second World War. After the war, Jack received a Master’s Degree in Linguistics from University of Paris, Sorbonne in 1950. In 1952, he married, Fanny Kara. They moved to the US in 1954 where Jack worked as a manager in the manufacturing industry.
Jack is survived by his wife, Fanny Kaufman; his sons, Michael (Bonnie) Kaufman of Chicago, IL and Carl (Martha) Kaufman of San Francisco, CA; his daughter, Lisa (Oliver) Hellwig of Rolesville, NC; nine grandchildren; and his sister Sarah Jolles.
