My late husband and I had the pleasure of Iains company on numerous occasions when we were neighbours - he was always the life and soul of the party. So Iain - no goodbyes just good memories. Roberta Hill

My Godfather Uncle Iain had a profound impact on me growing up. I was always so excited to visit across the road to his house, play with Charlie the dog and sometimes sleepover. I remember waking him and Sheila up at 3am one day, all dressed and ready for school having got confused with the time! The main memories I have of him are not in individual moments, but always feeling totally special, loved and accepted in his company, his warmth, smiles and encouragement in everything I did. His momentous efforts to keep in touch over the years despite the distance. I hope that this is what has sunk into my soul, and that I have passed on to my own family, just a small part of the massive legacy that he leaves. Goodbye Uncle Iain, you will be so dearly missed. Love from Charlotte xx

Iain, we never got the chance to say goodbye. It's been an honour to have known you and to call you friend. In my heart and thoughts forever. TC

Iain was a great friend and I'm a better man for knowing him. Whether attending a Blackburn Rovers game or playing golf in the snow at Wilpshire GC he was always the ultimate enthusiast. I had the pleasure of staying with Sheila and Iain at many of their homes and always felt like a member of the family. Business wise, we traveled the globe together and usually brought home the bacon. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Jim Taylor

I have such fond memories of when Uncle Iain and Auntie Sheila visited, both as a child and as an adult. Uncle Iain used to love to entertain, make us laugh and always told me how much he loved me and my girls. RIP Uncle Iain. Love Beth, Tim, Poppy and Holly xxx

My late husband always said you hadn't really died while you lived on in the hearts of those who loved and remembered you. Well, Iain my friend, you are going to be 'around ' for a very long time. We privileged & lucky to have enjoyed your friendship - my heart goes out to my dear friend 'Your Sheila' as you always referred to her . I light a candle in Ian's memory , but no candle could shine as brightly and warmly as Iain's presence - he lit up any room he walked into and lit up so many peoples lives, Rest in peace my friend You will be sorely missed by so many . A very special person. A wonderful storyteller and host. First a neighbour and then a friend of 49 years. Lots of memories of the love of music we shared. A true gentleman.

Memories of Uncle Iain; endless competitive games of snooker (I think I maybe won once), football kick abouts and spins in his latest company car. Uncle Iain was always the life and soul of every Boxing Day party! R.I.P Uncle Iain, you'll be missed by so many. Love Chris, Pia, Felix and Mary xxxx
