Henry Fred Otto
December 24, 1943 – April 7, 2025

Fred Otto, 81, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on December 24, 1943, in Savannah, Georgia, Fred spent his early years in Tucson, Arizona, where he attended public schools before graduating from Arizona State University in Tempe. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years.

In July 1966, Fred married the love of his life, Danley Robinson Otto, who survives him. Their nearly six decades of marriage were filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures.

A lifelong sports enthusiast and devoted NC State fan, Fred could often be found cheering on his favorite teams. He enjoyed playing golf, softball, tennis, and, in his later years, found a passion for pickleball. Fred was also a voracious reader, known for juggling two books at once—one on his Kindle and the other on his phone.

Fred is survived by his wife, Danley; their son: Michael Otto of Nashville, TN; their daughter, Staci and her husband Joe Denicola of Santa Cruz, CA. He was a proud grandfather, “Papa”, to Jordan Otto Reed and her husband, Tom Reed, and great-grandfather to Everest and Ryder Reed.

Fred’s warmth, wit, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be held on June 7, 2025, from 2:00-4:00pm at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27614.
