Helen Barbara Burns, formerly of Bristol, RI, died on July 29, 2017, at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh, NC. Born on December 17, 1925, to Mary (Dyrak) and Andrew Mayowictz, Helen attended Warren Schools and graduated from Warren High School in 1943. She married Charles Edward Burns, Jr. of Bristol, RI, on September 25, 1954 and moved to Little Falls, NJ. Helen was employed by U.S. Rubber in Bristol and banks in MA, IL and RI. After stints in Massachusetts and Illinois, Helen and Ed returned to Bristol, RI for 24 years. They then moved to Raleigh in 2006 to be close to their son and his family. Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rich and Camilla Burns of Raleigh, NC.; two granddaughters, Kiley and Ryan Burns of Raleigh, NC; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, C. Edward Burns in 2015; two sisters Sophie Healey and Frances Finn; sister-in-law Mary Mack and brothers-in-law Charles Healey, Thomas Finn and Steven Burns. There will be a graveside service for Helen on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
