Obituary For Georgia Florence Greenan

Georgia Florence Sipula Greenan died peacefully at Rex Hospital on April 30, 2013. She had been a resident of Raleigh since 2008. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Charles and Josephine Ondriak Sipula, who preceded her in death. Georgia received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Augusta State University in Social Work and her Master of Arts Degree in Personnel Services from Clemson University. She was a National Board Certified Counselor and a member of the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security. Georgia was a very active volunteer throughout the years, always wanting to either learn something new or serve others. She volunteered for the VA Hospital and Georgia Regional Hospital in Augusta, Georgia and the South Carolina Literacy Council and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Greenwood, SC. She was deeply involved in the Holy Ghost of Gray Nuns in Massachusetts. After her retirement from SC Employment Security Commission, Georgia was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family and beloved grand dogs and grand cat. Georgia is survived by her husband, Joseph John Greenan, her sons, Joseph Philip Greenan (Linda) of Raleigh, NC and Terry Patrick Greenan (Kathy) of Grovetown, Georgia, and her three grandchildren, Matthew Greenan, and Allison Greenan of Raleigh, NC, and Kevin Greenan of Grovetown, Georgia. Other surviving relatives include: Hugh and Mary Greenan of St. Johnsbury, Vermont; Eleanor Greenan Doyle of Rosendal, Massachusetts; Jack and Carol Greenan of Indian Head, Maryland; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Georgiaâ??s name to Safe Haven Cat Shelter, 8431-137 Garvey Drive, Raleigh, NC 27616 The funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 3 pm at The Catholic Community of St Francis of Assisi, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC.
