Obituary For George "Riley" Crane
George “Riley” Crane III, 45, died on June 13, 2019. He was born in Hinsdale, Illinois on November 27, 1973, son of George Crane and Suzanne Monaco. Riley attended Wake County Schools. After graduating, he attended Pitt County Community College and East Carolina University. He was the proprietor of commercial landscaping and maintenance businesses as well as an entertainment company. Riley married the late Elizabeth Smith on March 16th, 2007. Although they divorced, they remained friends. He later found love with his long-term and devoted girlfriend, Tara Burt.
He was an avid music lover and enjoyed attending live concerts. He also loved to travel—particularly to tropical places that serve drinks with umbrellas! He was an adventure enthusiast who lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed boating, motorcycling, four wheeling, snowboarding, and flying drones. Riley also never met a stranger and was known far and wide for his generosity and hospitality. His charismatic personality ensured he was always surrounded by friends and laughter.
Riley is survived by his mother Suzanne Monaco of Raleigh; father George Riley Crane and Helen Crane of Raleigh, NC; sisters Caroline Crane Lewis and Deanne Crane Costen of Raleigh, NC and Marilyn Crane of Washington, DC; and three step-children Dhillon and Reece Lamm of Fort Stewart, GA and Lily Marie Abigail Lamm of Raleigh, NC. He also had three loving nephews Sawyer Lewis, Aaron Morgan and Cullen Costen.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm with the Celebration of Life scheduled on Friday, June 21 (visitation from 6:30-7:00 pm and followed by the service at 7:00 pm). Both events will be held at the Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC.
